Introduction to Energy Modeling Tools
The Open Studio platform integrates a drag-and-drop energy model with a drawing tool (SketchUp), once a model is created the user is then able to run “what if” type analysis among competing design alternatives (via the Parametric Analysis Tool) to optimize a given configuration (e.g., am I better off with R-5 or R-10 subfloor insulation?, etc.) in terms of both costs and performance. The recommendations in the AEDGs are included within Open Studio’s Building Component Library.
